Planned Giving

The Planned Giving program provides a means for donors to distribute any portion of their estate to Emanuel Medical Center, in the form of current or deferred gifts, for patient centered advancements.

Cash

The majority of gifts to Emanuel Medical Center are in the form of cash, Unrestricted gifts are used for the hospital’s greatest needs but gifts may be donor designated.

Life Income Gifts

Cash, securities, real estate, and other property may be used to fund gifts in trust such as: a Charitable Gift Annuity, Annuity Trust, and a Unitrust. Donors may transfer cash, stock, securities, or other property to the hospital in exchange for a commitment to pay the donor a specified amount each year for the remainder of the donor’s life.

Life Insurance

Naming Emanuel Medical Center the owner / sole beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy will provide donor with a tax deduction for cash value of the policy.
Personal Property
Donating valuable personal property to the hospital during the donor’s lifetime, rather than upon death, reduces the taxable estate and income in the year of the gift.

Real Estate

Real estate can make a valuable gift to Emanuel Medical Center: a vacation home, commercial building, farm, or a parcel of land. Individuals can even donate a private residence now and continue to reside in it for life. Donors benefit from this type of donation in that no capital gains tax is due when appreciated real estate is donated; income tax deductions for the appreciated value of the real estate is allowed; and donor avoids estate taxes on the appreciated asset.

Stocks and Securities

Donors may make outright gifts to Emanuel Medical Center in the form of stocks and bonds rather than cash, thus realizing tax advantages. They avoid paying a tax on capital gains that they would owe if they sold their appreciated securities.

Wills and Bequests

Bequests are generally realized from charitable provisions included in wills or revocable living trusts. Donors are able to use their capital during their lifetimes, but make a decision to associate themselves forever with Emanuel, through the use of a deferred gift.

Estate Planning is an important element for Emanuel Medical Center that helps ensure a strong and promising future for the residents that rely on access to local healthcare in our community. It also may have economic advantages for you and your heirs.
