Turlock - Emanuel Medical Center's Regional Cancer Services has added a new Nutrition Class and support groups for Prostate Cancer and Children of Cancer Patients. These new and free programs will meet in the Emanuel Medical Plaza's Conference Room located at 880 E. Tuolumne Avenue in Turlock.

Nutrition Class
This monthly class will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29th and continue on the last Wednesday of every month. The class will be taught by a Registered Dietician and focus on the link between cancer and poor nutrition. The goal of the class is to help all individuals learn how they can modify their current eating habits in ways that will improve their overall health.

Prostate Cancer Support Group
This new support group is designed for both men who have a diagnosis of prostate cancer as well as their partners. The group will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month starting May 11th.  Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in American males today.

Monkey Business, a Support Group for the Children of Cancer Patients
Dealing with the emotional issues that come with the diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelming for even the strongest of adults. For the children of cancer patients, the emotions can be confusing and frightening. This new support group (for children 5-12) utilizes a variety of techniques to help families develop a platform to discuss the emotions surrounding cancer. This support group will run for 8 weeks.
