New Turlock Breastfeeding Support Group

Turlock – A new Breastfeeding Support Group at Emanuel Medical Center will hold weekly meetings from 1:00-2:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, August 7, 2007. The group will meet in the main lobby of the hospital at 825 Delbon Avenue in Turlock and then be directed to a conference room. Interested pregnant or breastfeeding women are encourage to join this weekly women’s support group.
The new weekly group is being started during World Breastfeeding Week, August 1 – 7, 2007, to assist mothers in sustaining breastfeeding after discharge from the hospital.
In September 2006, the Maternal-Child Department at Emanuel Medical Center and area healthcare providers joined together to form the EMC Breastfeeding Coalition. The purpose of this Coalition is to assist pregnant women, mothers and families in initiation and sustaining breastfeeding. In March 2007 the Coalition held an eight hour breastfeeding conference for Maternal–Child staff, Emanuel staff and area healthcare professionals.
