Legacy Circle Raises Nearly Half of $1 Million in Just Three Weeks

September 21, 2007

Turlock, CA – Legacy Circle, Emanuel Medical Center’s annual giving program continues to reach out to the community in an effort to provide endless cancer services by establishing the Emanuel Cancer Endowment – with $493,672 already raised, Legacy Circle is well on its way to reaching this year’s goal of raising $1.2 million.

Thursday, September 20, 2007 was the halfway mark for the ongoing six-week Legacy Circle fund-drive for the Emanuel Cancer Endowment. Emanuel Employee Volunteers and the Community Volunteers brought friends, family and co-workers to hand-deliver stacks of member pledge cards they received during the third week of the campaign.

“This is a remarkable group of people who volunteer their time to Legacy Circle only because of their affection for this hospital,” said John Ferrari, Community Team Owner and local Turlock grower. “We feel the patient care here is far above the rest, which makes raising dollars for the Emanuel Medical Plaza not as difficult as some people may think.”

The Jeani and John Ferrari Family recently donated $250,000 for the lobby at the Emanuel Medical Plaza and Jeani Ferrari looks forward to volunteering as a concierge to greet patients and visitors at the entrance of the new facility.

The Emanuel Cancer Endowment is a $4 million permanent fund that will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer services in Turlock. Legacy Circle has committed to raising the initial $4 million to establish the endowment, but the fund will continue to grow as charitable gifts are donated for years to come. The Emanuel Cancer Endowment will provide services such as outreach and prevention, early detection, support groups, genetic risk assessment, counseling and testing, clinical research, and participation in national clinical trials. These services and leading technology will only further the reputation of Emanuel Medical Center as one of the top-quality medical organizations in the Central Valley.

“We have this great opportunity to establish permanent funds to accompany the need for cancer patient care, right here in Turlock,” said John Sigsbury, President and CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “In keeping with Legacy Circle’s past accomplishments, this is an ambitious goal. The Emanuel Cancer Endowment is a permanent reality for the community and as part of the community, I would like to say thank you to everyone involved. We are all looking forward to moving closer to our goal during the next two weeks.”

The highly anticipated third annual On Broadway with Two Guys will take place on Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 4:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. This wine tasting and gourmet appetizer benefit is sponsored by Stephen Backus and Ed Samo, who are also Legacy Circle Community Team Owners. 100% of all proceeds from this year’s benefit will be donated to the new Emanuel Cancer Endowment.
