This center brings together a collaboration and partnership between Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Stanford University School of Medicine, and Emanuel Medical Center to bring state of the art cancer care to Turlock and the surrounding communities. Located in the Emanuel Medical Plaza, Stanford Radiation Oncologists and Physicists and Emanuel Therapists, Nurses and support staff are providing the most advanced cancer treatment options available.
The Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center has the Varian TrilogyTM accelerator, the most advanced linear accelerator available today. This system is capable of image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and imaged-guided radio surgery (IGRS). Very simply, IGRT involves the use of imaging tools to localize the area being treated, as well as verify how treatment was delivered to the tumor. By conforming patient and tumor positioning immediately prior to treatment, higher, more effective doses can be delivered to tumor sites with less risk of harming adjacent tissue.
