Come Celebrate Cancer Survivorship at Emanuel Cancer Center

May 16, 2017

Turlock, CA— Cancer survivors, caregivers and advocates are all invited to join Emanuel Cancer Center and Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day with a free ice cream sundae on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Last year, Emanuel Cancer Center served over 600 sundaes, its largest celebration to date.

“The American Cancer Society estimates there are more than 15.5 million cancer survivors alive in the US today and that number is expected to grow to more than 20 million by 2026,” said Michael Iltis, executive director of Emanuel Cancer Center. “The number of cancer survivors is increasing because of the advances that continue to be made in prevention, detection and treatment. National Cancer Survivors Day is a special day when we all come together to celebrate the remarkable progress that has been made in the fight against this disease.”

The event, which includes live Dixieland music, is open for any cancer survivor, advocate or caregiver. Every attendee will receive a free ice cream sundae and a gift.

“Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer is invited to come celebrate with us,” Iltis added. “Ice cream is probably the ultimate comfort food. Our wonderful staff and physicians who work at Emanuel Cancer Center and Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center will be here to serve sundaes to all of our guests. We’ll even have sugar-free ice cream available for anyone looking for a healthier alternative.”

Please RSVP by May 26 by calling toll-free (855) 819-5294. Emanuel Cancer Center is located at 880 E. Tuolumne Road.
