Emanuel Medical Center Seeking Community Members to Serve on Patient and Family Advisory Council

Aug 3, 2018

Turlock, Calif. – Emanuel Medical Center is seeking community members to serve on its Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). The council is instrumental in advising the hospital’s administration on ways to improve the patient experience.

“The Patient and Family Advisory Council is a vital component to Emanuel Medical Center. We believe bringing the perspectives of patients and families directly into the planning, delivery and evaluation of healthcare is the key to excellent patient care,” said Lani Dickinson, CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “Input and involvement from the communities we serve provides important feedback to our programs and services. It’s a win-win for the hospital and our patients.”

Council members have the opportunity to offer advice, information and recommendations on planning, policies and procedures to the Emanuel administration. Their input provides the leadership team with an enhanced understanding of how to improve quality, program development, service excellence, communications, patient safety, facility design, patient and family education, staff orientation and education, and patient/family satisfaction and loyalty.

The Emanuel Medical Center PFAC meets at least four times per year, at times which are convenient for members. Members are expected to attend at least three of the four meetings. Lunch or refreshments are provided. Members are reimbursed (with receipt) for transportation and child care expenses incurred as part of the PFAC meetings.

Potential members of the PFAC must be willing to:

  • Listen to differing opinions and share different points of view
  • Be positive and supportive of the mission of the hospital
  • Share insights and information about their experiences in ways that others can learn from
  • See beyond their personal experiences
  • Show concern for more than one issue or agenda
  • Respect diversity and the perspectives of others

If you are interested in submitting an application to serve on the PFAC, please contact Lynis Chaffey at [email protected].
