Turlock, Calif.
– Emanuel Medical Center has launched its first annual EMC Fit Challenge, which encourages employees to focus on healthy living.

28 teams and nearly 300 employees have joined forces to make the commitment to live happier, healthier lives.

The free, 12-week program promotes wellness, healthy living and teamwork. There are three weigh-ins throughout the competition, and success is based on percentage of body weight lost. Numbers are kept confidential and participants are encouraged to set individual goals based on how much weight they want to lose or if they simply want to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

“It’s exciting to see so many of our employees working together and encouraging one another to stick to their fitness goals during this challenge,” said Lani Dickinson, CEO of Emanuel Medical Center. “This is another way we are continuing to build camaraderie within our hospital and encouraging our employees to lead healthy lifestyles.”

The challenge kicked off with a Wellness Fair, which featured more than a dozen booths from various local businesses, gyms, yoga studios, dance studios and personal trainers. The fair also included samples and recipes of healthy snacks.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and top female, as well as the top three teams, during the finale celebration in October. There will also be giveaways throughout the challenge to keep participants motivated.
