20th Women's Cancer Awareness Night Out

Sep 14, 2017

People Magazine’s Sexiest Doctor Alive to Emcee Emanuel’s
Women’s Cancer Awareness Night Out

Turlock, CA— Internet sensation and People Magazine’s “Sexiest Doctor Alive” Dr. Mikhail “Doctor Mike” Varshavski D.O. is coming to Turlock to emcee Emanuel Cancer Center’s Women’s Cancer Awareness Night Out.

Themed “Open ‘Mike’ Night,” the event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Monte Vista Chapel, 1619 E. Monte Vista Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  The formal program begins at 7 p.m. with a procession of cancer survivors. Free tickets are limited to two per person and must be reserved in advance. Reservations can be placed online at emanuelmedicalcenter.org/cancer or by phone at (855) 819-5294.

Doctor Mike is committed to cancer awareness, having lost his mother to leukemia during his first year of medical school. In addition to serving as the event’s emcee, Doctor Mike will share his personal journey and offer women’s cancer awareness and prevention information.

Making a special appearance at this year’s event will be Caly Bevier, “America’s Got Talent” 2016 semifinalist. Bevier’s singing and stage presence so impressed judge Simon Cowell that he used his one and only “golden buzzer” to fast track her to the competition’s live shows.

In celebration of the event’s 20th anniversary, some of the open mic acts will be encore performances from the event’s previous 19 years. Unlike a traditional open mic night, the event’s acts have been preselected.

About Doctor Mike

Dr. Mikhail ‘Doctor Mike’ Varshavski D.O., is a social media entrepreneur, philanthropist, and New York based doctor focusing on family and preventative medicine. As a family medicine provider, he is able to speak about issues that not only fall within the full spectrum of medicine, but also within the full patient experience, as he is the first and last point of contact for patients who come to him with an extensive range of conditions. Doctor Mike started documenting his medical journey through his popular social media platforms and uses his influence to motivate students from all over the world to pursue their medical training and educate them on primary healthcare topics.  In addition to his social media entrepreneurship, Doctor Mike launched his own charity, ‘The Limitless Tomorrow Foundation,” aimed to break the financial barrier and empower candidates to reach their full potential, explore the world and conquer their hardships.

Doctor Mike graduated from the New York Institute of Technology in 2014 with a B.S in Life Sciences and a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine via an accelerated 7-year track. On June 30, 2017, he completed his three-year Family Medicine Residency at the Atlantic Health System-Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. He emigrated with his family from Russia to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 6.

About Caly Bevier

At 15, Bevier was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. While still sick, she recorded a version of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” which her father posted on Facebook. That led to a performance at a fundraiser for another cancer patient which was videoed and widely viewed on YouTube, then an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show and eventually “America’s Got Talent.”  Now, in remission for two years, Bevier is committed to making people more aware of the symptoms of ovarian cancer.

In early 2017, Bevier relocated from the Midwest to Los Angeles to further her passion for music and entertaining. She is presently working with some of the same writers and producers behind Katy Perry, Zayn Malik and Jason Derulo. In addition, Bevier is performing around the country and recently performed with the Toledo Symphony.
