Emanuel Medical Center Providing Meals for Federal Employees

Jan 22, 2019

Turlock, Calif. – With the government shutdown, hundreds of thousands of federal employees are currently working without pay.

For the duration of the shutdown, Emanuel Medical Center is offering current federal employees and their immediate families, free meals in our café. They just need to verify their status by showing their federal ID or badge, and must accompany their family members. Participants need to check in at the hospital main entrance before proceeding to the café.

Lani Dickinson, CEO of Emanuel, wants to make sure federal employees in the area know they are being supported.

“We have local families who are struggling and we want to be at the forefront of assistance for our federal employees,” Dickinson said. “We hope those impacted by the shutdown will stop by for a meal with their families. Emanuel is here for you.”

The free meals begin immediately and will continue through the duration of the shutdown. Federal employees may come to Emanuel once a day during normal café hours for a meal, which includes an entrée, two sides and a fountain drink or milk.

Café hours: 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
