Two Emanuel Employees Honored Nationally as Tenet Heroes

Turlock, CA— For their commitment to quality, integrity and service, two Emanuel Medical Center employees have been named Tenet Heroes as part of an annual tradition that recognizes extraordinary accomplishments among all of Tenet Healthcare’s 100,000 employees across the country. Emanuel Cancer Center Executive Director Michael Iltis, and long-time Emergency Department nurse Jonathon Carroll were nominated by Emanuel administrators, and their nominations reviewed by a national selection panel. They join 135 other Tenet employees nationwide to be nominated this year.

Emanuel Medical Center and Riggs Ambulance Team Up to Teach Bystander CPR at the Merced County Spring Fair in Los Banos

Turlock, CA— In just about 10 minutes, visitors to the Merced County Spring Fair in Los Banos can learn how to help save a life.

Learn CPR at Spring FairEmanuel Medical Center and Riggs Ambulance Service of Merced are teaming up to teach bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Senior Day at the Spring Fair, which is slated for  April 30.  Emanuel is the sponsor of Senior Day, on which seniors ages 55 and over can receive a $2 off fair admission coupon in the fair’s special section in the Los Banos Enterprise, Merced Sun Star or Livingston Chronicle.

Special Extended Enrollment Period for Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance

Turlock, CA— Emanuel Medical Center will continue to provide information and assistance to the community during the health insurance special enrollment period for tax season, which runs from March 15 to April 30. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have provided this extended period to purchase health insurance coverage for consumers who were unaware or did not understand the significance of the fee for not enrolling in coverage for 2015.

Make 2015 the Year You Quit for Good

Turlock, CA— There are about a million reasons to quit smoking, but only one reason not to—it may be hard. However, medical experts will tell you to try, and try again. Emanuel Cancer Center will host two free seminars about smoking and lung cancer. “What’s really important for people to know is that it is possible to quit,” said Dr. Mohamed Eldaly, a medical oncologist at Emanuel Specialty Care – Medical Oncology. “It may take three or four tries, or even six or seven, but the payoff for the smoker and their family is huge.”
